What to Expect

A Real Appointment — Just From Home

Telehealth at Bright Horizons is not a generic online portal. You see the same board-certified psychiatrist every visit — someone who knows your history, your goals, and your care plan.

Comprehensive Evaluation

First visits include a thorough psychiatric assessment — your history, current symptoms, medications, and goals — typically 60 minutes.

Prescription Management

Prescriptions are sent electronically to your preferred pharmacy the same day — including controlled substances where clinically appropriate.

Ongoing Continuity

Follow-up visits are typically 30–45 minutes. You see the same provider, review progress, adjust medications, and plan next steps together.

Coordinated Care

We coordinate with your therapist, PCP, or other providers — sharing notes and treatment updates to keep your whole care team aligned.

Telehealth Services

What We Treat via Telehealth

Most outpatient psychiatric services are available via secure video — the same standard of care as an in-person visit.

Medication Management

Ongoing psychiatric medication care — starting, adjusting, and monitoring prescriptions for depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and more.

Psychiatric Evaluation

Comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for new patients — thorough, unhurried, and focused on getting the right diagnosis before starting treatment.

Treatment-Resistant Depression Follow-up

After an in-person TMS or Spravato® course, ongoing monitoring, medication adjustments, and relapse prevention via telehealth.

Anxiety & Panic Disorder

Evidence-based medication management for generalized anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, and PTSD from the privacy of your home.

ADHD Management

Adult ADHD evaluation and medication management — diagnosis, stimulant and non-stimulant options, and ongoing monitoring of effectiveness.

Note: TMS, Spravato®, and IM Ketamine require in-person visits at our Rockville clinic. Initial psychiatric evaluations may be completed via telehealth. We’ll confirm requirements when you book.

Most major insurance plans — including Maryland Medicaid and Medicare — cover telehealth psychiatry at the same rate as in-person visits. We verify your benefits before your first appointment so you know exactly what’s covered. There are no hidden fees or surprise bills.

Just a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, and a reliable internet connection. No app downloads required. We use a HIPAA-compliant platform — you click a secure link sent to your email or phone, and you’re in. We’ll send a test link before your first appointment to make sure everything works.

Yes. Prescriptions — including many controlled substances — can be issued electronically during a telehealth visit and sent directly to your pharmacy. Maryland regulations allow psychiatrists to prescribe most psychiatric medications via telehealth for established patients. We’ll clarify any requirements during your first visit.

Yes, new patients can have their initial evaluation via telehealth in most cases. If your clinical presentation requires an in-person assessment (for example, if you may be a candidate for TMS or Spravato®), we’ll let you know at booking and schedule your first visit in our Rockville clinic.

Absolutely. We use a HIPAA-compliant, end-to-end encrypted platform. Sessions are never recorded without explicit consent. We recommend finding a private, quiet space for your appointment — but even if you’re limited on privacy, your provider is trained to work with you confidentially.

If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency or are in crisis, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or go to your nearest emergency room. Bright Horizons telehealth is designed for stable outpatient care — not crisis intervention. If you’re safe but struggling, we can often see you within 1–3 days.
