I've had depression for most of my life. Years of it, and a long list of medications that never did much for me.I found Dr. Etesam on Google while looking for a clinic near North Bethesda. Bright Horizons was one of the closest, so I called to find out more.That's how I heard about Spravato. I wasn't sure about it at first. It took me months to decide to actually go through with it. My insurance covered the treatment, which made the decision easier.The first few sessions, I felt nothing, and I started wondering if I'd made a mistake. I finished the full cycle anyway.I'm writing this almost two years later. I'm off my daily medications now and just come in for maintenance doses when Dr. Etesam recommends them. Somewhere along the way I started feeling like myself again enjoying things, and hopeful in a way I hadn't been in a long time.If you're on the fence, call the clinic and ask your questions. The front desk staff answered everything I threw at them and never made me feel rushed. That made the whole thing much less intimidating.Thank you to Dr. Etesam and everyone at Bright Horizons.

This has been a long overdue review, but better late than never. Truly Bright Horizons, its staff, Shelly, Dr. Etesam have been a life changer. I was in one of the lowest points of my life. I truly didn't think I would ever live a life with more better days than bad, or feel I could get through the bad days a bit better. I was convinced I wasn't even going to make it to my 40th Birthday. I was scared getting back on meds due to previous bad side effects, but they truly have gotten me on the right ones, and continue to help modify things as needed. They are so good about listening and doing all they can to make me feel at ease.Beyond the medications, the real life changes has be the Esketamine treatments. I never knew such a thing would be so life changing, but even after the first treatment I felt like I was able to look at my world in a better light, was able to process traumatic memories with much more ease, and also find enlightenment with what I wanted my life to be. I was very nervous about the treatment at first, but everyone at the office made me, and continue, to make me feel so welcome, safe, and comfortable. It honestly feels like I am going to a mental health spa. I get to relax for 2 hours, listen to my music, curl up under a blanket, and allow myself to feel better.I really don't know where I would be now if I had not made the choice to go to Bright Horizons. They really saved my life, and my life, and relationship, are so much better because of them.

Dr Amir Etesam is a gem of a doctor. I was so nervous going into his office but he eased my mind with his knowledgeable expertise along with his kindness and detailed explanation of my options for treatment and who I need to see. He has excellent bedside manners and genuinely cares. He took his time answering my questions. Not rushing like so many others. For my particular case he gave me three references to call so I can set up an appointment to go see a neuropsychiatrist instead. He left open the fact that I can always go back to his office. I wish I could have been treated by him. I have been to many different doctors throughout my life. By far he is the best. I can't thank him enough for such a positive experience. If you have been depressed for a while and have tried medications that either never did or stopped working, this should be your next place to try. Seriously, I always feel like a special guest instead of a patient, from the moment I arrive here until I leave. Kindness, relaxation, and hospitality are part of how every patient is treated. During my first visit with Dr. Etesam, the psychiatrist, we went over my current medication list and he explained in plain and clear English what my treatment plan for the next 8-10 weeks would be. He introduced the concept of TMS and made sure I was comfortable with it. He also immediately scheduled my daily 10 minute TMS treatments at the same time for the next 6 weeks. I am currently done with week 5 and everything is proceeding as Dr. Etesam explained during my first appointment. I look forward to continuing my work with the employees of this practice as they all brighten my days!

They bring you what you want to drink to help kill the unpleasant taste of the Esketamine.I have been suffering with treatment resistant major depression and C-PTSD for decades, literally. It is such a relief to have something available that really helps! Don't get me wrong, everyday isn't sunshine and roses because, well life, but this treatment has finally let me see some light at the end of the tunnel.I am forever grateful to have found Bright Horizons and every single person working there!The photos are how I like my room during treatment. Anita touched my life and the medicine she prescribed made me a better person. The center is cozy, comfortable and everyone there respects me and my privacy. Their billing and scheduling runs smoothly. They are very approachable for my first appointment - it made me feel that they are just a phone call away.

I have suffered from depression and anxiety for too many years to remember and have been under the care of many doctors but unfortunately there was no improvement in my condition. Within the short amount of time I’ve received care at Bright Horizons I am feeling very hopeful regarding the care I’m receiving. I had the pleasure of having a consult with Nurse Practitioner Shelly, who introduced me to esketamine treatment for depression. She is kind, caring and easy to share my feelings with. She is always available if I have a question, no matter how minor. She is a great provider.Now, I can’t say enough about the care team (Saianne, Naomi and Mehjabeen) who administers my esketamine treatment. They are one of a kind and always greets me with a comforting smile which makes my day. They always make me feel that they really care. They’re definitely an asset to Bright Horizons Psychiatry and a very important part of the treatment process.

I’ve been coming here since April and I can honestly say that’s it’s changed my life. I’ve been struggling with mental health issues for 25+ years and tried various medicines. Dr. Estesam did a thorough review. Adjusted my meds and I began TMS and esketamine. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. My mood has stabilized, I’m more confident and find myself speaking up more. I don’t want to share too much about myself since this review is public but if you’re considering Bright Horizons, do yourself a favor and go! Oh, also, the staff are just lovely and work closely with you to schedule and assist you. I can’t recommend them enough.

I’ve been coming here for a few weeks now. The medical team is very professional, friendly and they listen. I’m optimistic that they’ll be able to help me reach remission. The office is also very calming. They have spa music playing and very aesthetically pleasing rooms for treatment.

This review has been a long time coming. Other than a rough start from a misunderstanding, which they handled wonderfully, I have nothing but praise to sing about the practice. I specifically see NP Shelly, but let me tell you why I can review the entire practice, even people I have never met. This is going to be a long review because you deserve to know why I go here, and why you should, too. I'm a paramedic, who has a history as an addictions counselor.First of all is probably one of the most loveliest human souls I've ever met in my life, NP Shelly. This woman has made herself available to me *nearly* 24/7. When I had a crisis, or a reaction, she replied to my email in a matter of hours and cleared a spot to see me within a day. If I had a question, she was there. She was always on top of finding the answer, even though she has been treating me for over a year and I've been a fairly difficult case. This woman is even taking a leave of absence for personal reasons, that she absolutely deserves to and deserves uninterrupted time, and STILL tells me "oh, but you know how to reach me if you need something".When NP Shelly came to a tough choice and the road forked, she consulted with Dr. Etesam, who, on my behalf, even reached out to different clinics for me to see if he might be able to squeeze me in to them for Ketamine treatments. This man has never spoken to me or even seen me and still took the time out of his day to see what he could do on my behalf because he truly cares about his patient and other clinicians.And the office staff? Let's start with the wonderful woman who did my prior auth, whose name I don't know, but you have so much respect and affection from me. She got me approved for a medication that is classically refused by insurance companies. Like, ridiculously refused. It's mind blowing the magic she pulled and by all means, I was expecting to be denied coverage. Office staff has always been friendly and helpful, usually when I have a problem calling me back within an hour or two. Sorry that your section is a little shorter but you are awesome people who always make sure that things are done on the back end, I don't believe there's ever been an appointment error, paperwork error, or a delay in communication. I've never had a hitch in refills that wasn't the pharmacies fault.So should you come here? It depends. If you're looking to get a simple medicine and have a simple treatment, you can go elsewhere. If you truly don't want to get better and don't want the best help you could ever dream of, you might want somewhere else.If you want a team and staff that will find answers and treat you like family and work to the ends of the earth to make your treatment successful, this is the place you want. If no where else has been able to find your mental health answer and you're at your wits end, this is where you need to be. If you want people who will see your message at the end of the day, 6:02 pm, and still take time to help you, sit back down at their computer and run that prescription for you, or give you an answer, or listen and help, this is your place. If you want truly wonderful human souls who love the mental health support they provide to their patients, this is where you want to be.If you want to get better, and actually reach it, this is your place.

First of all, as silly as it may sound…I have a wonderful, dedicated friend that drives me for almost 3 hours to go to Bright Horizons. There may be places closer, but I have been in deep depression with anxiety for many years…barely functioning. I have been under the care of several psychiatrist and therapist, but have never achieved the success that I have with Dr. Etesam. It’s not just the as Esketamine treatments, but the whole team that has brought me to feel happy again. It started with the confidence, compassion and attention that Dr. Etesam and his whole staff had shown me before the 1st session. They have shown devotion to me, kindness, compassion and direction from beginning to where I am today. I will never be able to thank the doctor and his team enough for what they have done for me. Great staff! It’s super helpful that they offer virtual appointments & the online patient portal makes it super easy to access scheduled appointments. The online portal is also super helpful with checking on any messages, bills, etc.

The Ketamine treatments offered by Dr. Etesam's practice have been life changing. My long standing depression has improved by almost 100%. In addition to the Ketamine treatments Dr. Etesam has evaluated and is managing my other depression medications. This is the first time I've had a monitored comprehensive treatment.

A very welcoming staff. They are always concerned about my comfort and they strive to make me feel at ease. During my sessions I am permitted to watch anything I’d like on the TV. The best part is I leave with a little treat in the form of a piece of candy and soft drink of my choosing. Unlike most doctors visits I do not dread going to bright horizons psychiatry, I look forward to it.

My experience with Dr. Etesam was excellent. When I first visited, I was suffering from severe depression, had no appetite, and lacked the energy to complete my daily tasks. I felt hopeless and was in a very bad mood. After just two months of treatment, I feel significantly better, about 80% improved.

If you’re considering TMS, see if you’re eligible & do it here!!! I first started TMS at the beginning of this year and just finished my last session a couple weeks ago. Medicaid covered my treatment 100%. I only pay for my prescriptions. Dr. Etesam and Hesam have truly done a fantastic job with my treatment. We found the right balance and my symptoms have drastically improved because of TMS and medication management. The other staff are also genuine and welcoming. Huge shoutout to Naomi, Mackenzie, and Diana they truly make this place feel more at home, as it should when you’ll likely be going everyday for TMS. I see myself continuing my mental health journey here with the best :)

Not sure where to start, but I’m very grateful to have found this practice after more than a decade of psychiatric mismanagement!1) The facilities are clean, modern, tastefully decorated, and strangely soothing. Individual rooms for esketamine therapy are cozy and sensory-friendly (big recliner, trippy lights, aromatherapy diffuser, Beats headphones, eye mask, TV with popular streaming platform(s), extra seating, tissues, trash bin, AC, and your own blanket are provided), and they offer drinks and treats, which helps with the after-taste. I’ve come to look forward to my appointments because if you want to, for 2 hours, you get to completely disconnect from the outside world and just relax.2) As far as logistics go, scheduling and working with insurance/other providers has been a breeze so far — I started treatment way faster than expected! However, they have been mindful of my pre-existing medical conditions the whole time, and they diligently monitor your vitals during appointments. Outside of office appointments, they are flexible (for those of us who tend to be disorganized and forget things or miss appointments) and understanding, easy to get in touch with via call/text/email, and very efficient when it comes to refilling prescriptions or evaluating your progress.3) Most importantly, the providers and staff are friendly, welcoming and (bonus!) multicultural, and they all seem genuinely happy to help! While I’ve mainly interacted with Dayana, Dr. Etesam, and Naomi, I’ve found everyone at this practice to be kind and respectful. A special thanks to Dayana for being on top of things and making this a comfortable experience for everyone, and to Dr. Etesam for having a more holistic approach than you’ll find in other practices and helping clear out some of the confusion I came in with!Needless to say, I highly recommend Bright Horizons Psychiatry to anyone with a complicated history, shady misdiagnoses/unclear differential diagnoses, and/or treatment-resistant depression.
