Telehealth Psychiatry Appointments

Whether you’re at home, at work, or simply prefer not to travel, telehealth makes it easier to get the care you need. At Bright Horizons Psychiatry, we offer secure video appointments for medication management, and follow-ups—so your mental health stays a priority, even when life gets busy.

Telehealth

Care That Comes to You

Bright Horizons Psychiatry is a patient-centered practice located in North Bethesda, MD. We specialize in treating adults (18+) with depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and other mental health conditions. Led by Dr. Amir Etesam, our team offers personalized psychiatric care using a mix of medication management and advanced treatments like TMS and Spravato®—now available via telehealth for many appointments.

Our mission is simple: to help you feel better, with care that’s grounded in compassion, science, and real connection.

Mental Health Support
Wherever You Are

We believe getting help shouldn’t be hard. Telehealth lets you meet with your provider using your smartphone, tablet, or computer—from anywhere in Maryland.

Here’s what you can expect:

  • Easy, private video appointments

  • Personalized care, just like in the office

  • No extra software or apps required

  • Secure and HIPAA-compliant

  • Ideal for medication check-ins and follow-ups

Whether you’re just getting started or continuing care, telehealth gives you more flexibility—without compromising quality.

What Is Telehealth Psychiatry?

Telehealth psychiatry is mental health care delivered remotely. Instead of visiting our office, you’ll speak to your provider over video in real time. You can still:

  • Start a new treatment plan

  • Adjust medications

  • Ask questions and share concerns

  • Receive support for ongoing conditions

It’s the same expert care—just more convenient and on your schedule.

Who is it for?
Telehealth is great for adults managing depression, anxiety, OCD, and more—especially if travel, time, or comfort make in-person visits difficult.

About Dr. Amir Etesam, MD

Dr. Amir Etesam, MD, is a Johns Hopkins–trained, Board-Certified,  psychiatrist and the founder of Bright Horizons Psychiatry in North Bethesda, Maryland. He is a distinguished member of Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the nation’s most respected medical honor society, recognizing excellence in scholarship and integrity in medicine.

Dr. Etesam’s clinical work is exclusively focused on patients with treatment-resistant major depressive disorder (TRD)—those who have not improved despite multiple trials of medication and therapy. His practice centers on advanced neuromodulation therapies, including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Intranasal Esketamine (Spravato®), provided in a private, state-of-the-art setting designed for comfort and healing.

He no longer accepts new patients for other psychiatric conditions such as anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or OCD.

For patients seeking care for other psychiatric conditions—such as anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and general mood or behavioral concerns—a highly trained team of psychiatric nurse practitioners works side-by-side with, and under the close supervision of Dr. Etesam. This collaborative model ensures that every patient receives the same standard of thoughtful, evidence-based care that defines Bright Horizons Psychiatry.

I feel like this may be a new beginning for me, the staff was very polite and helpful, the doctor was extremely helpful, made everything crystal clear, having some test done that I’ve never knew existed, so I’m finding new ways with these people to help me feel better about myself and get a new lease on life. Thanks to all Edward.

We had a scheduled appt for my son. He was depressed and upset in the car before his appt. Dr E, walked to car with me and saw my upset son and didn't even try to communicate with him. He said to me he’s not ready(??) !! Then he just walked back in the building and left us. So unprofessional and disappointing. Didn't give recommendations, nothing. What kind of a professional psychiatrist would leave a person in distress?? Just unbelievable and shocking.

I’ve had multiple issues with this practice, especially with medication management. Several times, prescriptions discussed during my appointments were never sent in, including an essential medication for my sleep and anxiety. This weekend, I was left completely without it and I was left with no medication during an episode of heightened anxiety. When I called this morning to get help, the front desk staff repeatedly interrupted me and tried to direct me to the patient portal, even after I explained that the portal wasn’t working and I had already used the reset link they provided. It wasn’t until I became extremely upset and asked her to stop interrupting me that she finally took my refill request verbally. The lack of follow-through, difficulty communicating with staff, and repeated errors have made this a very frustrating and disappointing experience. Update: I spoke with the clinician manager, Shelly, and she was extremely kind and receptive. She took the time to listen to my concerns, acknowledged the issues, and provided clear solutions. I will now be seeing her for all future appointments and I’m hopeful working with her will turn around my experience.

I had an excellent experience at this practice. The office is impeccably clean, comfortable, and has a calming, positive vibe. Everyone was professional and welcoming. The person I met with was on her A-game—confident, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. She made me feel completely at ease even though I wasn’t sure what to expect. I left feeling impressed and grateful to have found such a competent and caring practice. 🫶

I was very happy with my visit. I came in with one main concern but they really got down to the root of what else could be going on. I was really happy with my visit today!

No special software is needed. You only need a device with a camera and internet access. The link we send works right in your web browser.

Yes. For most mental health concerns, telehealth is just as effective as in-person treatment. You’ll get the same level of attention, support, and privacy.

What if I need medication?
Your provider can prescribe medications during your telehealth session and send prescriptions electronically to your preferred pharmacy.

Absolutely. We check all your current prescriptions, over-the-counter meds, supplements, and even herbal remedies to prevent negative interactions and make sure your mental health medications work effectively.

Follow-up frequency depends on your specific situation. Early on, you may need more frequent check-ins to fine-tune your medication. Once things stabilize, we may shift to monthly or quarterly reviews—but we’re always here if you need us.
