  • Live in a rural or underserved area of Maryland
  • Are managing an ongoing condition and need regular check-ins
  • Are new to psychiatry and want a lower-barrier first appointment

Maryland Telehealth Psychiatry: What to Expect

Bright Horizons Psychiatry is a Maryland-licensed psychiatric practice. All of our telehealth providers are fully licensed to practice in the state of Maryland, and all appointments comply with Maryland telehealth regulations.

Here’s what a typical telehealth visit looks like:

  1. Book online — choose your appointment type (new patient or follow-up) and pick a time that works for you.
  2. Receive your secure link — we’ll email a HIPAA-compliant video link 24 hours before your appointment. No downloads or apps needed.
  3. Meet your provider — connect with your psychiatric nurse practitioner or Dr. Etesam via video, just like an in-person visit.
  4. Get your care plan — leave with a clear medication plan, follow-up schedule, and any referrals needed.

Most Maryland insurance plans cover telehealth psychiatry visits, including Medicaid and Medicare. We’ll verify your coverage before your first appointment so there are no surprises.

Ready to get started? Most patients are seen within 1–2 weeks.

What Is Telehealth Psychiatry?

Telehealth psychiatry is mental health care delivered remotely. Instead of visiting our office, you’ll speak to your provider over video in real time. You can still:

  • Start a new treatment plan

  • Adjust medications

  • Ask questions and share concerns

  • Receive support for ongoing conditions

It’s the same expert care—just more convenient and on your schedule.

Who is it for?
Telehealth is great for adults managing depression, anxiety, OCD, and more—especially if travel, time, or comfort make in-person visits difficult.

Conditions We Treat via Telehealth

Our telehealth psychiatrists and nurse practitioners treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including:

• Depression and treatment-resistant depression (TRD)
• Anxiety disorders (GAD, social anxiety, panic disorder)
• OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder)
• PTSD and trauma-related conditions
• ADHD in adults
• Bipolar disorder
• Mood disorders
• Medication management for existing psychiatric conditions

Not sure if telehealth is right for your situation? Call us or send a message — our team will help you figure out the best next step, whether that’s a telehealth visit or an in-person appointment at our Rockville, MD clinic.

Office was clean and nicely decorated with soft music in the background. The receptionist was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. The doctor was very kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. He was a good listener and didn't make me feel rushed. He provided good explanations of medication, therapies, and on going process of treatment.

Dr Amir Etesam is a gem of a doctor. I was so nervous going into his office but he eased my mind with his knowledgeable expertise along with his kindness and detailed explanation of my options for treatment and who I need to see. He has excellent bedside manners and genuinely cares. He took his time answering my questions. Not rushing like so many others. For my particular case he gave me three references to call so I can set up an appointment to go see a neuropsychiatrist instead. He left open the fact that I can always go back to his office. I wish I could have been treated by him. I have been to many different doctors throughout my life. By far he is the best. I can't thank him enough for such a positive experience. His team is pleasant, friendly and making an appointment was easy. Very professional. The office is clean and the environment is light and positive.

As a psychotherapist myself, I’m very selective about where I refer my clients for medication management, psychological testing, and advanced treatments and Dr. Etesam and his team truly stand out as exceptional. Their practice offers an impressive and thoughtful range of services, from traditional psychiatry to TMS and ketamine treatments, all delivered with a level of care, professionalism, and integrity that is rare to find. I consistently feel confident referring my clients here because I trust the quality of care and the clinical expertise across the entire team. On a personal level, I am also a patient of Anita Paudel, and she has been absolutely wonderful! I always feel heard, supported, and well cared for. I highly recommend Dr. Etesam and his team to both colleagues and my own clients seeking high-quality, comprehensive psychiatric care.
