What to expect at the Frederick clinic

Plan on about two and a half hours in the building. You take the dose in a minute, then stay for two hours of monitoring, a federal REMS requirement at every certified clinic in the country. Bring headphones if music helps you settle.

Plan your ride before you book

You cannot drive after a dose, and you should not drive again until you have slept properly. In a county this spread out, that is worth sorting before you book rather than the morning of. If someone can collect you, that is simplest. Rideshare is reliable around Urbana and Frederick city and thinner toward Middletown and Mount Airy, so check it in advance if you are coming from further west. Some patients arrange the same driver for the whole four-week induction block, which removes the problem entirely.

Tell us at your consultation if transport is the thing standing in your way. It is a common reason people put off starting, and it is usually solvable.

Most plans cover it, and we file the paperwork

Most major plans cover Spravato for treatment-resistant depression, including Medicare and Maryland Medicaid. Every plan needs prior authorization first, which means documenting the antidepressants you have already tried. We file it and tell you your out-of-pocket cost before your first dose.
